The emirate of Córdoba was the first advanced civilisation in medieval Europe, synonym for peaceful coexistance between three world religions. But who was the initiator of this marvellous example of architec- ture? Who laid the foundaition for the social interaction of cul- tures in Andalusia? Several music bands and dancing groups from all over the world performed, surrounded by vivid market live. The Nuremberg Museum of Arab Culture Association arranged its own snack stall to contribute falafel sandwiches and tee to the wide range of international gastronomic specialities. ____________________________________________________________________________ ![]() ![]() the two cello players Birgit Förstner (music award winner) and Sybille Fritz as well as by the lute player Layt Abdul Ameer. ____________________________________________________________________________ Qualification project "Orient Manager" The professional training programme "Orient-Manager" by the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) gGmbH in cooperation with TrappNetworks and the Nuremberg Museum of Arab Culture Association aimed to coach companies from the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region and their employees for business relations in Arabic speaking countries. The seminar was held in spring 2010 and for a second time in spring/summer 2011. It covered 60 teaching units à 45 minutes and was divided into 9 days of training. ____________________________________________________________________________ Stadt(ver)führungen 2011 "Oases" was the subject of this year's "Stadt(ver)führungen", a rank series of guided tours through Nuremberg from 1st to 3rd July 2011, organised by the city's Cultural Department. For the first time, the Nuremberg Museum of Arab Culture Association offered a guided tour, too (in German language only): We lead you to the Nuremberg Airport as an urban "oasis" of intercultural relashionship. ____________________________________________________________________________ ![]() ![]() 2011 Concert and reading: "Dreams of Orient and Occident" – Poetry, Lute and Cello Saturday, 1th October 2011, 7.00 - 9.00 pm Nachbarschaftshaus Gostenhof, Adam-Klein-Str. 6, 90429 Nürnberg Music and Poetry connect cultures – especially with instruments from different cultural world regions which can seldom be enjoyed together. The uncommon combination of poetry, lute and cello develops a magical Oriental-European harmony. Themed "Dreams of Orient and Occident", the literary award winner Dr. Kassem Alef and Erika Maria Dietz read their own poems. This night's texts were dominated by harsh reality and great emotions. They dealt with days and nights which made the auditorium dream. The poetry was framed and connected by amazing music by 2009 Germans meet Yemenites 15 August 2009, Schloss Burgfarrnbach On the occasion of the first German-Yemeni sports meeting, the Nuremberg Museum of Arab Culture Association, the German-Yemeni Association and the Nuremberg-Fürth German-Egyptian Association invited to an evening party at Schloss Burgfarrnbach. About 30 Yemenites stayed for a visit in Germany from 11 to 18 August. The heart of the group was the soccer team al-Saqr from Taizz, Yemen, in company with the vice minister of youth and sports Muamar Mutaher al-Eryani, as well as representatives of youth associations, artists and businessmen. On the meeting on 15 August, the delegation was welcomed in speech by state minister Günter Gloser, the lord mayor of the city of Fürth Thomas Jung, and Yemen's embassador Mohammed al-Eryani. Festive athmosphere came up with spontaneous Yemenite folk dance, where also the German visitors joined in. The Yemenite youth enthused about their memorable first visit in Germany, which had been crowned by athletic success: The team defeated the SC Freiburg youth team as well as the Adidas staff team from Herzogenaurach. ![]() ![]() ![]() The exhibition aimed to show how the European progress regarding medical knowledge was influenced and enriched by the Arab World. Furthermore it informs about today’s situation, as European medical technologies and services build a bridge between both regions.
