The project is prepared by a private association called Arabisches Museum Nürnberg e.V., which was founded in May 2007. It gained legal registration in 2007 and the non-profit status in 2008.

President is Dr. Horst Kopp, professor emeritus  for cultural geography and Oriental studies at the University of Erlangen- Nuremberg.

Mr. Helmut Henseler, Dr. Wolfgang Mayer, Mr. Mohamed Younis, Mr. Rafiq Aldoais, Ms. Anja-Nadine Mayer
Membership of the association is open to individual persons as well as companies.
The annual membership fee is € 20 for ordinary members, € 5 for students and € 100 minimum for legal bodies.
 
An
advisory council supports the association.
 
Cooperation is sought with the existing German-Arab associations as well as with domestic and Arab cultural institutions and professional organisations. Any kind of political and religious commitment is excluded by the statutes of the association.
