Also the windmills in Spain were an Arab heritage.
Windmuehle_1
Did you know that…

…already in the 7th century A.D. the first windmills stood in Arabia?

Whereas the oldest windmill in Europe was only mentioned in 1105.
The Museum

The sections of the museum shall not be divided into epochs or countries, but rather cover general subjects, such as:

Intercultural relations
- The Arab World as mediator between Asia and Europe
- The Arab heritage in European science and technical development (medicine,
 mathematics, astronomy, pharmacy etc.)
- The Arab heritage in everyday life of European societies (language, music and
 instruments, cuisine etc.)
- The world of Arab spices – from anise to cardamom and incense

Everyday life past and present
- The importance of the family in the Arab World
- Fashion and style
- Fine arts, literature and music
- Arabisms - Arabic influence on German everyday language

The Centre of Dialogue

The project shall equally serve as a vivid platform for a constructive, inter-cultural exchange. A center of dialogue therefore is the second essential element of the project

The center of dialogue aims to promote the exchange between businessmen, but also scientists, artists, politicians as well as young people. The infrastructure will offer the best atmosphere to develop relations of friendship and partnership in mutual respect.

Activities will aim to several target groups. The list of events shall for instance include workshops for businessmen or scientists, congresses, concerts, festivals, lectures readings and language courses.

The Library and Other Elements

A public library shall be incorporated within the museum to grant access to technical literature, lyrics and prose from and about the Arab World. The plan is to offer literature in German, Arabic, English and other languages – for scientists and enthusiasts for books.

For relaxation, a hammam (an oriental bath) and a restaurant and café will be included, as well as a retail area.
